Tailgate handle
 

I'm wondering if anybody knows how to open and Cherokee tailgate if the handle is broke. I need to get it open to fix.

there was a tread about this same thing a few weeks ago. but i believe you have to crawl to the back of your xj and remove the plastic panel on the inside of the tailgate. then there you should find the cable that connects to the latch and give that a pull

Thanx. I think it's the plastic clip that came off. Cus I just changed the handle a few months ago

its the rod that connects the latch to the handle. Re-adjust it and your good to go. I need to do this again since mine is the same way
