ok so i know a SYE helps the jeep drive better and smoother and what not. but what exactly does it do and what does it help? iv heard id need to purchase a tcase drop if i was to get an SYE this true? thanks

Not true. The SYE compensates for extreme driveline angles. But you will need to shim your rear axle so the set up looks like this.

Here is an actual photo of mine, although a different tcase. But you can see how it is supposed to look. I have 7.5' of lift with no tcase drop.

No. An SYE does only 1 thing, it eliminates the slip yoke. No more, no less.
The addition of a non-slip yoke driveshaft that incorporates a double cardon joint allows for more severe driveline angles without inducing vibrations. The increased driveline angle is shared by 2 u-joints in the cardon vs a single u-joint in a stock driveshaft.
