Switching to H4 headlights IPF vs. Rampage
Hey my wife is getting me some new headlights for my Bday and I'm trying to decide if I should go with the Rampage H4 Headlamp Conversion Kit, and the IPF H4 Headlamp Upgrades. I posted links to both of them below. Has anybody out there ran these? Trying to find out which is a better route to go, and if I will need to upgrade the wiring harness.

just my 2 cents: i went with a Hella H4 conversion from Q-tec, and i gotta say, they work great, have had em since the spring.
and i'm a sucker for german parts, even on my xj.

You might want to check into these as well. I have heard nothing but good things about them. I just got a set and will be installing them as well as upgrading my harness in a few days.

Well I got the Rampages in the mail today. The lenses are glass, and they look amazing. I also purchased a H4 HD harness upgrade. I tried the headlights without the harness at first just to see how it looked. It was a huge improvement, but I wasn't satisfied. I went ahead and installed the harness and hooked everything up. I was blown away by the improvement. The regular low beams are like a night and day difference. I'll try to post some pics soon, but I'm really glad I went with the Rampages over the IPFs, the clear lenses matches my XJ much better, and match my Hella Fog Lights nicely!

Yeah it made a big difference, the harness I got was only 18.99 here is the link

Here is a link to a guy who has before and after picks with the rampages and the harness

Here is a link to an install of the harness

My only concern with the harness is that it does not come with an inline fuse, so I'm thinking I might have to rig one up for it.

I bought a set of "Racing Gears" head lights that are the h4 conversion off of a ford probe from a pull apart for $10. And then another set from a Honda civic at pull apart for $5. Ive seen them on ebay for $30 including the shipping. they work just fine for me. brighter then my stock headlights. they have glass lenses
if you go with these make sure they are glass, they have a plastic version too that is cheaper i had em on my integra and they were crap

I drove on some very dark country roads tonight and was very satisfied with the visibility. I feel like the brights should be a little brighter. I might have to upgrade to a nicer bulb than the GE's that came with the kit. Maybe a sylvannia hyper-white or a hella bulb. Still a drastic improvement over the stock bulbs.
Also, I spoke with an Chrysler engineer about the lack of fuses and the use of fusible links on the wiring harness. Since the harness is a 100W kit, and the bulbs are only 55w/60w he said it shouldn't be a problem. He advised that if I was really worried about it just splice in a 10 to 15 amp fuse, but still utilize the fusible links connected to the battery.
I guess that's what you get for a $19 harness kit, but it beats the $100+ of the IPF harness.
