switch mounting locations
What is the best place to mount lights switches? I want to be able to reach them easily and flip them on and off for oncoming traffic.

I want to put mine right in front of my cup holders.

Many people put them in the center console in that empty space in front of the E-brake, or they just wire the switch right into where the factory switches go – next to the rear window defogger and rear windshield wiper toggles.
Here's another cool idea if you're not a smoker: http://i50.tinypic.com/eqnztl.jpg |
I put mine directly underneath my headlight pull switch.

I put mine in that weird little rectangle on the dash. To the right of the instrument cluster

http://i46.tinypic.com/5l32b5.jpg I put mine on the center console. Attachment 363492 I run relays for the roof and driving lights but the power for the switches is run from the stock light circuits. The power for the driving lights are taken from the high beam feed after the dimmer switch. This does two things. First, I can't accidentally leave the lights on during the day if the switch gets turned on accidentally. The lights won't turn on unless the headlights are on. Second, they won't turn on unless the hi beams are on. This way when I'm using them to look for deer on the side of the road all I have to do it hit the low beams for an oncoming car and the drivings lights turn off with the hi beams. Turn the hi beams back on and the drivings lights come on with them. If I don't want the driving lights on I can turn them off manually. The roof lights are wired to turn on only when the head lights are on (hi or low beams). I tapped into the feed between the pull out headlight switch and the dimmer switch on the steering column. This way the roof light switch is only powered when the lights are turned on, but the roof lights can be used with low beams or hi beams. It's illegal in WI to use auxiliary lights on the road that are above the center line of the headlights so I don't use them unless I'm off-road. No worries about oncoming traffic with those. |
How do you wire an arb switch

I put mine near the thing to open the hood. (Technically speaking of course..)
