so right now i have a sub in the back of my jeep....19 inches wides and 14 inches tall.
I am toying with the idea of making a shelf at window level with supports down either side of the sub, and then drawers/shelves/cubbies on either side....just to up my storage. It would look roughly like this:
TT
with the sub in the middle and the top of the "T"s forming a shelf just below window height.
My question is: should i put the supports right up against the sub? should i leave a few inches on either side? should i leave that space empty? should i stuff it with foam/fabric?
I just want it so that it wont rattle everything in the back if i do this.

Is the sub already in a box?
If so, then don't leave any space between the legs of the shelf and the sides of the box.
If its not in a box, then make the shelf into the box if at all possible. No foam.

If you unsure whether it's ported or not (I think that's what you were getting at) if it's pored there is a hole somewhere on it. If it's sealed it's wood surrounding the subs cone.

Here's my sub box, Im toying with the idea of adding a 2x4 ontop of it and making shelfs and then building carpeted shelves on the other side the same height. But need to figure out a way to make it look nice

i want to do one like yours, but no supports. just a sheet of 2 ply plywood and covering it top and bottom with carpet, putting a peice of angle iron on one side and using my sub on the other side to support the sheet and just laying it on top to cover everything when i need it so no one can see whats under it...
