Sub $300 Winch Choice Opinions
Hello all,
Looking for a decent priced winch. Don't need anything crazy, just something for the weekend warrior. I"m considering the following <$300 options. Any thoughts or experience is greatly appreciated.
Engo 9000 $289

Superwinch LP8500 $284

Rugged Ridge 8500 $280

Smittybilt XRC8 $296

I'm leaning towards the Superwinch LP8500 or the Engo.

Titan sponsors our club.
My 12K Titan is awsome, not sub 300; but great value. We made a great deal with turnbuckle and clevises.
Titan also contributed $50 of our deal back into the Children's Wish Charity. Many in our club running for years in all conditions and still tuggin strong.

Of all those I would do the Engo. If I had to buy another low-cost winch it would be the E9000. Seen a couple used in some pretty torturous situations and they can take a beating with the best of 'em. Here's a great article that compares some of the most common winches:

My Smittybilt XRC-8 has been a great winch. I've had it a little over two years, and I use it a lot, and it still works as well as it did new. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another, but I'd spend the extra to get synthetic line on it instead of the steel cable.

Jegs has the tiger shark 9500 for 331 with free shipping. Also superwinch offers military discount which is 40% off. The lp8500 on jegs is around 273.

I've had my xrc8 for almost 3 years it's been flawless where the m8000 I had loved to burn up solenoids left and right. I'll be buying another xrc8 for my YJ also.

I have had the rugged ridge 8500 with synthetic line for 3 years and aside from free spool being kinda stiff it works great.
