This Grand Cherokee investigation is strange. 55 deaths from fire over 18 years doesn't seem all that bad, especially since it doesn't say that the fire was a direct result from the gas tank. All it says is "fire is the most harmful factor". But it sounds like gas tank skid plates are recommended, lol.
Another news video came on after the Grand Cherokee one that was kind of disturbing. It's about Enterprise Rent-a-Car renting out vehicles with recall notices against them. Apparently Enterprise doesn't have a policy regarding these vehicles, so it can keep getting rented out.
A couple girls rented a PT Cruiser that had a safety recall against it for a power steering hose that can leak and cause an engine fire. Well, the engine caught fire and they lost steering. The PT Cruiser swerved across the freeway median and smashed head-on into a big rig. Both girls died instantly. The worst part is that Enterprise first tried blaming the girls, claiming maybe they were suicidal.
In a deposition interview, an Enterprise manager was asked "Do you think it's a good idea to rent cars to the public that can catch fire?" His respose was "I have no idea." What kind of response is that? The answer is NO!
