Default stock xj with 235 or 30 in tires.

well i wont be able to lift the jeep this year only next summer. But i need new tires and have about 1k to spend.

i know or have read that 30s are the biggest i can go on a stock xj. So i searched but didnt know what to search for so if anybody can help me out that would be great.

the rims that i want are atx chambers and the wheels are BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/A KM2

also just wanted to make sure if i have the right tire size

BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/A KM2 Size: 30X9.5R15

ATX Chamber Size 15x8 Finish: Black w/Teflon Coating Bolt Pattern: 5-114

so i was just wondering if anybody has 30 on a stock xj and if they could post some pics so i can see if im alright.

futer plans are 3 or 3.5 in lift with leveled . ARB bull bar, safari roof rack, rock sliders and steal rear bumper

a 235/75 is almost 29 inches tall a 30x9.50 is 29.5 tall they both will fit on a stock XJ.The 30x9.50 will look better on a 3inch lift though

Typically you can go +4" on a width for your rim. So you could squeeze 12.5's on those 15x8's. I have 235/75/16's on my stock XJ. It rubs if I flex all the way, but only on the inner fender. However I have stock rims, so less backspacing. Yours might hit the fenders a bit if you flex hard with those new wheels.

30 X 9.5's are the way to go. They are a very "Full" fit in the wheel wells at stock height and will look far better after lifted. I am running that size BFG AT KO's an they are great tires.

This shows the progression of my previous XJ. Keep in mind that my rear leaf springs still had an arch to them, so that 2nd image is what you'll be looking at if yours are still in good shape.

Stock
Stock height on 30x9.5 - (pretty crammed, rubbed in daily driving even after trimming, I wasn't happy)
2" budget boost with same tires (I was very happy with this)
3.5" with same tires (this was perfect)

If I were in your position and did not plan to lift at all, I'd stick with 235s, but the 2" lift on 30" tires was nice.

I'm running 30x9.5s stock, and they will rub really bad if your springs sag, especially when carrying passengers

However, if you have a newer jeep and/or drive by yourself most of the time, they're definantly manageable until you can lift- when you will appreciate the larger tires

I think stock height is like 17 or 17.5 inches from the center of the wheel to the bottom of the flare for the rear ... I'm not really sure, but I've seen the measurements floating around on here somewhere

Since you do have an older jeep, it's a good bet that your leafs are sagging.... look to see if they are flat or even have a negative arch- mine are pretty much flat, and 30s rub the flares if I have 1 or 2 extra people in there and hit a bump or take a turn too fast , or if I just flex it out too much (which doesn't happen too often, unfortunately )

Here is my XJ with 30x9.5x15s... never rubbed...

I now have 235s and next to each other you can just barely tell a difference, but you still can tell.

thanks guys for all the info but I look at the leafs in the rear and they still had an arch to them not completly flat so I guess I'm okay if I get 30s but I'm still double checking everything also thinking about the mojoves rims

one more question is what back spacing should I get I know they come in a 4 or 4.25 or something lime that I want the rims to stick out a lil and I won't be doing any flex or anything like that untill next year becuase of funds and this is my primery car so I don't wantto do much to it right now bit make it looked rugged an ready for when o do go all out
