I still have the stock splash guard and it has come loose in some spots. I have been debating on getting under and taking it all out. Is there any concerns with not having it. Seems like it would allow more air into the engine as well.

 

You can rip it out it is only a splash guard and nothing more. If it is falling down I would fix it or rip it out because you don't want it flying out on the hwy or up into the fan.

 

In my opinion its not worth keeping in there, ditch it!

 

Mine has been removed for over a year with no ill effects. I do, however have the stock skid in the front which helps keep water and snow from touching the alt.

Yeah just a piece of plastic below the front of the engine bay. Most have probably already been ripped out.
