Yea i have stock gears. Whatever came in the 96 4.0. I have never changed it. Yea i told the cop that i just put those tires on from a smaller size and he was just like well those are some pretty big tires. and he still gave me a ticket. But i got to lookin at my ticket today and he didnt mark how he clocked me. I talked to someone i know that used to be a cop and he said it could get thrown out for that reason. But yea i never knew how much it could really throw off your speedo. I knew it would some but i have passed cops before doin the speed limit so my speedo says and have never had a problem. I told that cop that and he just seemed like he didnt care. Its funny to me in away but then again it kinda pisses me off. So i do believe im goin to fight it.

we have a new law here in ontario, they call it the racing law.
if you're clocked at 50kph (that's 30 mph for you mericans) over the posted limit, they tow your car and impound it for 7 days. and you get a fine up to 5000.00.
there is no fighting this law. cop tows your car right there at the side of the road. you can not challenge it.

under the same law umbrella is what they call stunt driving law. again this is up to the cops discretion, one wheel in the air, burn out, riding ontop of a vehicle, etc. same impoundment/fine.

hell, i can lift the front drivers wheel about a foot in my tj just going around a corner with enough gas.

and as i posted above, those are really accurate for 33" tires. just keep that chart with you or memorize it
look at www.quadratec.com type in speedometer gear and it will take you to what they hav. a chart for sizes of tires and gears from 29 inch tires to 44's and gears from 28 teeth to 40 teeth or so. and gears from 307's to 488's

and remember that it is not a linear equation, its exponential. so the faster your going(more rpm's of the tire) the moer it will be off. i personally am about 4 of with 33's and went from stock 307's to 3.55's(for now) and im about 5 off on the freeway(55-60 speed limit) i rarely even look at my speedo not because i use a GPS. i really advice getting one

Yea i just have stock gears which i believe are 3.73s. Well i talked to a cop that i know and he said to fight it. So thats what im goin to do. I did some research on tire size and from my factory tire size which is 215/75/15 to 33x12.5x15, my speedo is 17.43% slower than my actual speed. So since i was rollin 64 you times that by .17 that equals 10.88. So with that, that would make my speed 75. So im goin to go fight it and see what i can do. But ill keep everyone posted on what happens.

Just to make sure I understand this: You got pulled over for doing 75 in a 55 zone. Your speedo read 64. You do the math and all and find out that your speedo is in fact off by that much. You decide, "I'm gonna fight it!" even though the the evidence you came up with points against you? Dude, NOT SMART! The judge will look at you and say, "Thanks for supporting the officer's case. NEXT!" Here's what you need to do: 1) Pray to God and hope the judge is having a good day because most traffic court judges aren't the happiest people on the appearance days. 2) Admit to the violation. It shows responsibility and makes you look more mature. 3) Ask if it can get lowered on account of your speedometer being off. You're better off going that route - trust me.
