yea you can see it. I'd have a friend turn the motor so it's easy to inspect.
I kinda doubt the cam gear is messed up anyways because I've seen them take some abuse and the gear on the dist. usually made of soft metal.

Well, I looked at it, and it LOOKS like the teeth are kinda chipped. But, I'm willin to throw a cheap dist at it, and if it breaks again, I'll buy a cheap Integra, and stroke this thing to 5.0L and supercharge it.

Good idea.

Just make sure the cam gear is indeed alright or you'll just be doing the work over and over and over.

Lol, will do. Found a motor for less than 200. So if it goes again, so does the damn motor.

Some of the jeep cams where cast in a bad bunch some of them made it through the inspection just like the casting from mid 1999-01 on the bad heads. I just dont have a year for the cams that were cast and didn't harden to the specific rate they needed, so as not to wear.

Throw another gear on it and give it a try, oh and change the oil too before doing so.

Very good point! That chewed up gear HAS to have left shavings, if not worse, in your oil.

Good call!
