Check oil and trans fluid to see if clean. Drive it! Make sure no death wobble! Feel carpets to see if they are wet or feel crusty due to water damage. Check tires for odd wear. Just do a complete inspection for yourself. If you feel it is a good deal then go for it. If anything doesnt look right or feel right then it probably isnt. Good luck and hope to see you here in the future. Using the words of the show Overhaulin' "are you ready for your life to change?" HAHA

The only reason I ever check for issues is to talk em down on the price. If it's broke, I'll fix it. lol
Really though, make sure 4wd works. Anything you don't want to deal with. Electrical issues are at the top of my list.

Well I just got back from looking at it and WHAT a mess. Someone decided to use a BBQ in the back and lit the side plastic on fire and it was all melted. The doors are about to fall off (I heard they are very heavy doors for the 2D model and have issues with sometimes sagging). it had about a foot of play back and forth in the steering before actually turning the tires. It drove okay. The rocker panels were fully rusted out, honestly it was in horrible shape haha. The picture makes it look very nice.
Anyways he was asking 1000, I offered 700 and he refused so I walked. The search continues!!!

All the doors had issues closing, it was missing a lot of random pieces like door handles and whatnot. I want a bit of a project before winter but that just was a little too much.

Sorry to hear about the jeep. Keep up the search. Where are you located? Maybe we can help locate a suitable jeep for your needs.

I'm in Ottawa Canada. And the guy contacted me again and said he would let it go for 700. I asked if I could take it to a shop to see if there are any really huge issues, I dont have a lot of auto tools or ability, id like to learn though. So we will see. Id love to rip the interior out anyways so i'm not concerned about the BBQed plastic lol. I dunno... part of me thinks its only 700$! just get it! the other part thinks it maybe a huge money sink especially to fix the loose steering?

I would take it to a shop.. but I would be more worried about having no rockers and the rust...
