I think I can talk them down to $3300-3500. I will probably use a bit of that for tune up. This will be my dd on a 60 mile daily highway commute so don't want to lift or get m/t's. I was thinking about if I swapped out the wheels for this and took the ones from my old classic and got new tires possibly. I want to get header, custom exhaust.... But want to do downturn Magnaflow before the axle so don't have to worry about scraping it, also going to trim the front because that black plastic looks so chintzy under the bumper. So excited for this.... Though my old 1999 I had was nicer with 140k miles, it was 2wd. Which is like having a supermodel without a you know what. Anything I should watch out for besides checking date of manufacture and if it has 0331 heads ? I am going to take my old XJEEP99 off my old Cherokee and put it on this one....

Here's before and after....

My u joint was sheared off and the driveshaft was ripped out of the trans... Axle is only connected in one point now and nearly came out from under my Cherokee.

Wow at first I thought you were trying to buy the wrecked one! But anywho, the white one doesn't look bad but 197k miles is a lot. I think you can get lower miles, around 150k for that money. Just saw a local 98 in very nice condition, 150k go for 2500.

It looks very clean and if it was well taken care of would probably last a good bit longer. However I'm concerned that it may have had an overheating problem the upper rad hose looks maybe new (could have just been shined up) and there is a flush tee on the heater hose, so I'm thinking work was probably not professionally done and you don't know how qualified the person working on it was. I would recommend checking it out really well, hopefully all is well and someone just did their maintenance. Good luck on getting your replacement. One more thing I don't see the electric fan maybe not visible from photo though.

I thought you'd like this 1995 Toyota 4Runner on AutoTrader.com.

What do you guys think about this? Limited by price.... Only one okay XJ within 50 miles. I have spent hours on autotrader, Craigslist, and cars.com. Just not many XJs out there and don't want a full time 4wd 4.7 wj with gas prices.

I don't know if I can handle 130-150 hp and 4,000 lbs though hahah but with a 3.0 v6 from a Camry would imagine it would be fuel efficient and reliable though.

No. Crap and high milegage. Search for a wrangler so you can still stay in the Jeep community.

Don't give up, sounds like it's time to look farther away.

I did some research and it has no airbags and a 1 star crash test rating.... So no def not getting the 4runner. What about a 2001 xterra?

All I can find for wrangler is ones from the 1980s with 200k miles

Cherokee forum is not a good place to be asking about opinions about other cars everyone is going to say crap because like me, we all love our XJ's.

I just took a peek at the Oklahoma City Craigslist and there are Cherokee's and Jeeps all over it for very reasonable prices. Try browsing some more and see if you can find a good deal.

There's a really bad dealer who reposts the same Cherokee 1-2x a day..... I didn't find one with pics and if I have 5k to spend I want a decent looking XJ because it will be my DD too. Finding an XJ isn't difficult but finding 4wd one in good to excellent condition is very difficult.... I may just have to go against what I said earlier and test drive a few high mileage 4.7 WJs.

That 4runner has same a340/aw4 trans as us and was also trying to be open to other possibilities... Want a fun, cheap, nice looking and reliable vehicle for under $6500.

What's wrong with that?

:Edit: Didn't see the mileage it wouldn't be bad if you talked him down to 2,500-3000 cash talks.

Lots of wranglers too on Craigslist. Though it's not an XJ it's a lot better than a high mileage WJ.
