Default Smooth Ride?

Hey folks, gotta quick question. I have an XJ that I use as a daily driver and as a huntin' rig. I've got a good ride on pavement, real smooth, etc, but on washboard roads and gravel I'm feelin' every single bump.

What parts do I need to think about adding to smooth out my ride on gravel and backroads? Are the leaf springs, coil springs, shocks, tires going to have an effect? Which are going to have the greatest effect? Obviously I'm not going to eliminate the bumps, but a bit of dampening would be awesome.

Suggestions? Thanks!

dude are there like little waves in the gravel roads? thats where people have been spinnin tires. creates like a backwash ripple effect. no way to really dampen it but to drive slower.

Yep.

Sno_Blynd, I know I can't eliminate the vibration, but just wondered if better springs or some other component might dampen it.

can't be too sure, but i think RC hydro 8000's might help you out a bit. i have nitro 9000's and they are a bit hard. i've been told hydros are a little smoother. but, even with nitros my ride is better than stock. having said that, i'm not sure if they make them for the stock height.

shocks, sounds like they are bad, if they valving is to much the rebound will make it rough, if the valving is to little(or worn out) it will allow the shock to pack up and not absorb the bumps as well
