SKIM key retrofit
Just has my 1998 jeep cherokee stolen, Recovered it. Want to add theft deterence of some kind. After reading around on internet, the 'club' which I intended to purchase is not recommended re. thieves just cut the plastic steering wheel and remove it. Also saw the device whereby you remove your steering wheel but that's a pain and also get-aroundable. Looks like a SKIM key is best. Question: can one be retrofitted to a 1998 cherokee?

Auto or manual? If it's auto I'd say pull the **** beads out of the shifter (that came out way worse then I intended lol) and store them in the glove box or center console. Just yank up on the T part of the handle, best if done in neutral or lower gear, then you can push the beads down move the shifter to park, take the beads out, lightly put the T handle back in place (it's a pain to take off in park) and store your beads some where safe.
If it's manual I don't know, that might be enough for a theft deterrent for most people.

I have found the best theft deterrence is an .45 acp double tap takes care of most problems with correct ammo.

Car alarm with starter kill is going to be easier and cheaper.
If you are trying to prevent them from stealing the whole jeep, I would say a hidden ignition kill-switch, or switch/disconnect the ignition coil from the distributor. That way they will just keep trying to crank it, assume it is a POS that won't start, and leave
