I got a pair of the Goodyear Wrangler Radials (235/75/15) from wallyworld a month or so ago and have put around 2k on them. The other day i went around to do a visual inspection of my tires (yeah...tires hate me so i do this pretty often) and Found that both of the Wranglers have stuff going on with the sidewall that makes me worry.

Pictures of the Drivers side tire which is worse-
In this picture you can see two places on the right side that go from the tread towards the wheel. It is jacked up with no weight on the tire, i had to rotate the tire so that the worst part was up. There is also a ring that goes around in the middle of the sidewall that has the same kind of pulled in look and it goes through the middle of the letters(is occurring on both sides...)

View of the front, still jacked up, but doesn't look that bad from this angle

Dropped it back down onto the ground, the tire now has weight on it.

I drive a LOT, and my daily commute is nearly half an hour, now that my classes are ending I dont have that drive to college every day but I still have to cross a mountain to get to work, and i really do not want to have a blowout up there late at night. Has anybody ever had tires do this? i do plan on taking it to walmart again soon to get it looked at.

This is very common on any tire that is made in a two piece mold (less expensive). Although I have seen it on higher end tires as well. My last set of 37" Goodyear MTR's had two of those on 2 tires. No worry, tires are fine.

That does look odd, might not affect the tires life but still going to always thinking about it

im sure that you kept your receipt from the tire shop... so if something goes arai you can always take those tires back and have them swap 'em out. Those are well made tires though and i have seen a new set of BFG all-terrains do the same thing. I wouldnt worry too much about it.

I guess that makes me feel a little better, still going to go in and get them to look at it, hopefully it will give me some peace of mind.

I would take it back to walmart and have them replace them.

Im a shop manger for a tle i see this all the time. Like stated before its just the way the tires are constructed. If i were you just drive it till they wear out and put a set of uniroyal a/ts on.

I'd be pissed. Try and get a refund, who cares if it's "safe" or not.

I've seen alot of tires like that, and had the first few sets I personally owned on my xj do it, one of which was the same tire you're now rocking, none of which ended up with any issues due to it.

I wouldn't worry about it and continue to drive on them, other than looking weird Im in agreeance with most of the previous posts that its not a safety hazard.
