Default Showoff Your Painted/ Powder Coated Suspension & Steering

Let's see what you've done (even if I just black). So post 'em up fella's.

I'm a big advocate for powder coating as much as possible whenever I'm taking off any parts for repairs or replacement. Yes painting & powder coating looks cool but it's also for rust prevention & keeping grime from sticking as easily. I'm waiting on a few more pieces then I'll send a batch off to PC'd.

DIZZY, looks great! What steering is that?

I haven't coated anything yet on the XJ but I've done plenty over the years. Here's my other current money pit.

Yup, '04 Dodge SRT-4. Super fun, cheap, easy to work on.

I'm going to have to drop the oil pan here soon (main seal fix) so I figure I'll probably coat the pan & valve cover.

I'm bumping this to get some more pictures. I'm thinking of doing this when I undercoat for this upcoming winter.

Roughly how much does it cost to get all of those suspension parts powdercoated? And how well would just normal spray paint work? Thanks!

You get a better deal the more parts you have done at once. Really just depends on the pieces you are having done. It's not much more expensive then having someone paint professionally but much more durable.

I paid $700 for every thing in the pic. The Rims are two toned and I had 5 done. $500 for just rims,$200 for the rest. The guy said its way more durable then spray paint holds up good against road brim and salt from the beach.

^Damn! That's super expensive! LOL, I've seen your setup in person though and it is sexy as hell. (York Jeep Fair)

For those of you who are painting, what process do you go through and primers/paint do you use? I'll be doing this soon.

Honestly I did it kind of half assed and just did a few coats of my color of choice and a couple coats of clear. Its held up great against snow/salt/mud/ and every leaking fluid from the engine compartment. When I'm bored I might throw some spray at it just to touch it up. Definitely not show room but I like it. Keeps the rust away too: )

That's what I'm concerned about, seeing the potential abuse in that area. Clear coating sounds like a good measure.

I can usually wipe everything pretty clean with a wet rag.

Thanks!! The rims wouldn't of been as much if I just had one color. But basically $200 for longarms, crossmember, springs, shackles, and steering bars. I don't think that's bad figuring everything had to be stripped of the original black powder coat. Kings powder coat in Allentown Pa would of charged way more. Went to a small business to get it done(Hoffman powder coating in Macungie Pa) . The guy works in a big garage in the back of his house. I feel better work was done then a company that deals with alot of commercial stuff.

Yeah, that's not too bad for all of those parts. I would definitely trust a smaller business over a big commercial one. I drove to Macungie to get my new transfer case...2 hr drive lol
