Question Should I pluck this '88 Comanche?

Hey Guys,

I am looking at buying an '88 Comanche and want to know what all I need to be looking out for when purchasing.

What will I be doing with it?
The plan is to build a street-able weekend warrior...something along the lines of 5" lift on 35s. I plan to wheel it.

What I know about it from the ad and owner so far...
  • It's a 4.0 and runs good
  • 5 speed manual
  • Body is in good shape with no rust spots (highly unlikely, but we'll see)
  • 2 wheel drive
  • Needs minor TLC - rip in seat and turn signals don't work...nothing major
Now all of this of course needs to be confirmed, but what do y'all think so far? Is it a good base to start from you think? They're asking for $1,200.*

Attached some not-so-great pics. Any help in the matter would be appreciated!

Looks good. I paid 1000 for mine and it was super rusting with a blown head gasket. If everything checks out I'd be comfortable paying that. But ofcoarse try to get them down.

Check the rear frame rails for rust and look under that plastic bed liner for rust.If the frame is fine buy it most of them the rear rails rust out from the inside.
