So, I have been wanting a Cherokee for a while, I have the opportunity to buy one for $550
It’s an 89, Auto trans, 4x4, no rust, no dents, 182,000 miles
Should I fo?
Any reason not to buy an 89 if it’s in good shape?

 

sounds like a decent price if the trans is in good shape and it isnt all rusted out

I paid 500 for my 90... it had less miles but also a much rougher body so I's say a pretty good buy

 

The RENIX 4.0 is a torqy little rascal. I like my 90XJ and 89MJ. What I like the most about RENIX is that you actually have to "troubleshoot" issues and be a mechanic. None of that CEL, key on/key off/key on crap or hooking a scanner up. Just get you a good digital volt/ohm meter and a copy of the RENIX FSM and learn how to actually work on your jeep and not just replace parts.

Go for it, I would dump 5 bones on that rig as long as it shifts good and the motor is not knocking(piston slap, I hate piston slap!).
