Sell the XJ Dilema...
OK so I need to do some work on my XJ this winter. So I got to thinking that I want to do the floors, rock rails and repaint. This is my DD so I started looking for another XJ or YJ to drive and beat on in the winter so I can garage the XJ and do it right (rather than try and rush one weekend at a time).
Found a TJ Rubicon for cheap. Now I have a dilema. Do I keep the XJ, even though it will cost me a lot of $$ to make it as trail worthy as the Rubi, or sell the XJ to fund upgrades to the Rubi.
2004 Rubicon w/ D44s and air lockers kind of makes my 4.5" lifted XJ pointless...
I don't really want to sell it but if I buy the Rubi I will not have money to make the XJ anywhere near as capable for a long time...
:-(

ya you could sell it for 10 possibly but in this economy, probably 8. so almost tripple and thats ALOT extra to put into the xj, Lift, tires, rims, exhaust, up grades all arround, bumper. I think you would be covered to have an awesome cherokee which has like 5X the cargo room as a rubicon and much more bad a$$!

If you can really get that TJ for that much, sell the xj, wheel the Rubi, and sell it in a few yrs for a profit still. Then buy a nice xj for a steal and drive that.

Who cares. He'll prob still make a profit. That rubi is ready now to wheel vs all that work on the xj. Turns out to be the same.

i would go with the rubi for $3000.
you would spend that just building some d44's, gears and selectable lockers for the xj........plus with the rubi you get the 4 to 1...sye...a FRAME. ya know, the good stuff......

That is what got me thinking to sell the XJ in the first place... Selling the XJ would give me some $$ to lift/upgrade the Rubicon.
Condition on the Rubi is lots of miles (150K) but that is still 10K less than my XJ. Never been offroad- friend of the family owns it and wants to get rid of it for her payoff amount. Picking it up on Saturday.
