Sell Ford and buy a Grand Cherokee?

I have this 2004 Ford Explorer 4x4 with the third row seats. It has 151k on it. I was thinking about selling it and buying like a 2002-2004 Grand Cherokee. What do you guys think. The explorer seems to not get good gas mileage. How are the Grands. Not really sure what to do.

It would just be there to drive when I need it.

I wouldn't expect to get any better fuel mileage from a Grand Cherokee. The Explorer and Grand Cherokee are both nice. I'd keep the Explorer.

Guess the gas is about the same maybe Ill figure out a diff SUV or something.

Unless you get a small SUV your not gonna get too much better.

Maybe try a Ford Escape, or Rav4.

Engine: 4.0 with all of the noise and clatter

I had a 2wd Escape with the v6, it only got about 23mpg on the highway. It was comfortable, but all it really was is a Taurus on stilts.

The AWD Escape I rented got 24 on my trip from WI to KS. And it was well loaded. The Rav4 got 26-27, also AWD.

I don't think either were meant for medium to heavy duty off roading. I guess it depends on what you need.
