Select Trac
Looking at a 95 Grand Cherokee. Owner says it has "all time 4 wheel drive" . I am confused by my research as some descriptions of ST say that there is a 2WD option and others say its only All Wheel and 4 Low. I am not in favor of driving around in 4WD all of the time as it has to reduce the MPG significantly and at some point I would guess this more complex systems wil have parts to repair and that could be expensive. Can anybody help me understand just what the 4 wheel options are and share opinions one way another on the ST system. Thanks.

selec trac is 2, 4PT, 4FT, N, and 4L.
a lot of ZJs have just fulltime, N, and low. they use a viscous coupling to split torque F/R. they do tend to wear out and either only send power to the back or (rarer) just lock up. it is pretty simple to swap any other jeep tcase in.
