Seen a H3 today.....

I seen an H3 yeah a glorified trail blazer that had JEEP RECOVERY VEHICLE on the back window. I did not even know how to react. I tried to snap a pic but i was laughing too hard and couldn't. I guess that sticker and the Goodyear A/T tires it had made it one bad a$$ ride.

ken72 07-05-2010 09:03 PM

I hate those things. The only people who drive those things around here are people who are showing off for others. I have never liked them. I am sure they are quite capable on the trail but I have yet to see a single person who would wheel one. And why would you spend that kind of money to offroad it.

88MJ.uggernaut 07-05-2010 09:07 PM

Lol

xj_maniac_newb 07-05-2010 09:09 PM

ive seen people sink them in the mud.....and get stuck

they're very capable of getting groceries and getting stuck in the snow. last snowstorm, bestbuy parking lot had plowed snow about 4 ft tall covering one of the exits. i was in my dakota. i climbed it until i high centered. that's when i realized i didn't have 4wd on, i cut it on and came down over the other side. an H3 tried to repeat it and got stuck. i mean four wheels were spinning and nothing was happening. i didn't even stick around long enough to see the end of it.

If I had that kind of money I would spend it on a Land Rover... now thats a very capable machine or just build a sick XJ.

Tural 07-05-2010 10:11 PM

yeah. i don't think any other rig will pay you back as much as the XJ though.

JeepingDan 07-06-2010 06:00 AM

Gotta love the I.F.S.

bfisher42 07-06-2010 10:53 PM

i saw a sticker on a jeep today that said "if i wanted a hummer i would've asked your sister"

Scotty16 07-06-2010 11:19 PM

:furious: Everytime I see a H2 OR H1, I get mad. To me that's just rich people showing off how much they make a year. Plus you know they never take them things off road at all.....well dirt driveways at the most extreme, lol :rofl:They don't want to scratch the paint because it'd be too expensive to fix......whatever.

JEEPS ARE HUMMER RECOVERY VEHICLES!!!!

giwill 07-06-2010 11:24 PM

There's a reason they put those big tow hooks on the Hummers

To make it easy for some one with a jeep to pull them out of the Mudd LOL

caged 07-06-2010 11:41 PM

i used to work at a facility that made parts for the hmmwv, the real hummer.
they are quite large, and i do kinda like the different variations of them.

but if i could, i'd rock a knight xv. these things are massive. and made in canada. also, they will take 24 hours of constant gun shower.

here's one crapping out a hummer now.

here is some more eye candy.

giwill 07-07-2010 12:02 AM

well if i had the money i would buy two lol that thing would be nice but i bet with all that armor it would sink like rock

Johndoe 07-07-2010 12:29 AM

I had some lady on a cell phone in an H3 cut infront of me the other day when I finally caught up to her at the lights I yelled at her "HEY IF YOUR GONNA DRIVE LIKE A MORON AND CUT PEOPLE OFF AT LEAST MAKE SURE IT"S IN SOMETHING NOT SO EMBARRASING".. Like common if your gonna cut me off like you own the road drive a real vehicle at least grrr. Ahem sorry got a slight bit emotional :s

hitalonit 07-07-2010 01:30 PM

well yesterday i had a 1996 grabd cherokee blow by me with xj recovery vehicle written on it ... it was prettymuch stock... the little homo flicked me off and took off scared when i was catching him in my 31's

Scotty16 07-07-2010 01:37 PM

:grin:That was a seriously funny video! I couldn't stop laughing :bangin:
And that is exactly why H2's or H3's don't go offroad.

tomcarey88 07-07-2010 01:44 PM

I know a guy with an H3 and he wheels the shizznit out of it. He's even a Trail Guide on our group runs....and not on the "bunny" trails either. He has one of those Jeep Recovery decals too...because (sadly) it's occasionally true

ken72 07-07-2010 08:09 PM

The H3 seems a little more agile. I can see it running the trails a little better than the H2.

Tural 07-07-2010 08:36 PM

H1s are nice. but the ride quality is just horrid and they have no real power. especially the 6.2 diesel. it has such a hard time maintaining highway speeds. but i have actually driven one through 4 feet of snow without a single problem.

caged 07-07-2010 10:08 PM

the HUMVEE's top speed is just 60mph. but it will literally do that through anything.

Morat 07-08-2010 04:58 AM

I grabbed a ride in a US army HMMV in Bosnia way back when... seemed happy to go anywhere, but our land rovers did better just because they fitted the local's wheel ruts better and the place was heavily mined....

I heard that the HMMV is so wide for the opposite reason - so it can fit in tank tracks and avoid mines that way.

razor02097 07-08-2010 06:42 AM

thing is it wasn't an HMMV the OP saw... sure the HMMV is definitely bad ***, The H1 is pretty cool too... It is the General Motors spin off of the HMMV and the H1 that suck. The H3 is only better then the H2 on the trail because the H3 isn't a hummer like body on a suburban chassis. It is a hummer like body on a trail blazer chassis. It is a smaller and lighter vehicle.

caged 07-08-2010 09:16 AM

the H1 was still made by AM General, not General Motors. only the H2 and H3 were made by GM.

I know. I said the H2 and H3 where the spin offs.

azxj99 07-08-2010 10:31 AM

I've pulled out so many h2s out of the mud... I don't have a h2 recovery decal on my jeep cause I know there. Are some trail broken sick h2 hummers that could go places I couldn't. If your gunna get a sticker get one that's true for everything or that's funny like the toy taco I saw with the upside down sticker that says "if you can read this your jeep is upside down" lol or my sticker that says " I survived cash for clunkers

The H3 isn't even a TrailBlazer - it's underpinnings (and 3.7L I-5) are shared with none other than the Colorado/Canyon trucks. I've driven one, and they are full time 4wd - no 2wd option, and they are okay. The one I drove is nowhere as capaple as my XJ, but I suppose if you want an overpriced Chevy Coloarado/GMC Canyon - that is your SUV. :)

caged 07-09-2010 11:33 AM

we had an H1 on "greens" during our campNL offroad event one year, came out bashed and missing parts of body panels.
then a year later, GM sponsored an H3 to go on "the rock" trail, it actually did ok, but had snapped a tie rod in half, requiring an on trail weld repair to get it off the trail.

but all in all, the H3 did ok on a trail that was rated about a 4 out of 5 for difficulty.

http://www.can4x4.com/articles/campNL/campNL.htm

and yes, that's the test hummer pulling my buddy Ed out of a hole! (but that was after the H3 was pulled out of it. Ed just happened to be behind it.

This is funny, since there are countless XJ's with a budget boost and 30's(or less) with the "Hummer Recovery" stickers...

Dugualla 07-09-2010 02:43 PM

Most people who drive hummers couldn't drive an XJ off road either.

I would just leave the hummers stuck  no need to get their hopes up right?

Looks fun. I would get stuck for sure.

Civilian Hummers are junk and over priced. The military Hummers are good. In Arizona, Hummers can't go to half the places I can go in my XJ.
