After 4-6 hrs. depending on the day my knees hurt from being bent and hitting the console on rough trails a lot.
Knee room is about the same, but leg room was extended by an inch or two, and the *** end dropped an inch or so also, gained about that in headroom...the thing that really helped with the knees is the geometry, butt down, knees up, and legs have better extension...keeps from hitting the center console as much. That was also my big problem with the stock seats, after a couple of hours, my knees were killing me. Hasn't been an issue since.

I'll add that your choice of replacement seats shouldn't be limited to a Tibby, there's lots of small sportier cars that have bucket type seats out there...so if you happen to come across something in the JY, or on CL, or whatever, give it a go. Chances are it will be a major improvement!

Good to know thanks! Same as you the knees are what makes me have to stop and stretch and the extra inch or so would help. One thing I like the best is you say that your mount dropped the rear and I could sit the seat back upright a little more and still have some headroom.

I remember reading a thread a couple years back where somebody cut an 1.5" out of their seat bracket and welded it back together to gain headroom. Seemed to work pretty slick.

Definitely seems doable. Might run into clearance issues with the transmission tunnel depending on what year XJ you have.

I originally put Hyundai Tiburon seats in my TJ. I liked them so much I decided to put a set in my XJ. I then bought and LJ and guess what ... Tiburon seats for it too! Very easy installation and very comfortable. And not very expensive ... about $100 a pair at an auto wrecker.

Here they are in my '95 XJ 2 dr. ...

For the XJ, I adapted the original XJ mounts and sliders to the Tiburon seats. For the TJ & LJ it was the opposite - TJ/LJ mounts and Tiburon sliders. I don't have pics of the XJ brackets but they look very much like these from my TJ ...

All 3 sets came from '03 Tiburons but I understand they were similar for many years.

I'm only 5'9" and 185 lbs. so not quite as big as Jolly Roger. I have a friend about your size and he has driven my LJ and quite like them.

You were the inspiration for my seats...saw your post a while back and thought "cool, my niece drives one...maybe I could talk her out of her seats"...LMAO, FFWD a few years when her ride bit the dust, and they wanted to scrap it, I said "I WANT THE SEATS!!!"....got 'em, installed 'em, love 'em.

NICE! Always good when things work out like that.
