Went to look at a 2001 with bad head, 700-800 range.
Stuck my fingers through the rockers, floor seams were starting to go. by the time I sand blasted the underside I would be replacing a lot of metal.
Figured it would be at least 800-1000 of my time to make rust repairs.
Still looking

I have looked at a few XJ's,, "rust free" was none of them.
There is one on the side of RT4 for sale, pulled over to look at it.
Floors are rusty as hell, but it looked like it was professionally repaired with 3 rattle cans of under coating,, all most gave the 2500 asking price,,,,, Not!

"Dats the one"
Looks like he painted all the trim with gloss black house paint, added red pin striping, and sprayed undercoating over the rusted floors.
That is a 300-400 dollar project.
In my search I have found some crazy prices.
I did miss a 97 that looked in real good condition from the pictures, alt pully locked up, dead tags, asking 450.00
I answered the add within an hour of posting, and said I could be there in 1 hour to buy. looked up the address on google , it was smack in the middle of Pimlico Baltamore, blocks off a main road, checking "street view" 50% of the row homes boarded, it was parked in a one way in alley.
Something was not feeling good about going there bymyself,, passed on it.
