So I really want a trailer hitch, and would like to get one from a local pick and pull. The only problem is they are all rusty. But my friend told me that even if it's rusty, it will still be ok to use, as long as it isn't like rusted through or anything. Is this true? If so I'd grind the rust off and paint it black to protect it from rusting further. Thanks.

 

If its just a little surface rust than don't worry but if it looks not serious than that than I just wouldn't mess with it
