I have a quick question about lifts. I just purchased a 2000 Cherokee Sport and I want to turn it into a nice trail truck but also a everyday driver. Would a 4.5in lift from rough country be good for a trail truck? I was also debating about a 6in lift but I figure that would be to high and make my chances of rolling alittle higher. Thankyou in advance

The RC lifts suck flame war will start in 3,2,1...

Once you go past 4" of lift it starts to get really expensive and a lot of stuff, other than the lift, needs to be done. You will get just as far with 3" of lift and some fender trimming, and it will cost less than half of what you would have to do for 4.5". But reall, the first thing to do to your new XJ is to take it out bone stock and wheel it, you will be amazed how well it will do without anything being done to it. They're great right out of the box and will out perform almost any other 4wd vehicle (other than another Jeep product) that has has some slight mods.

6.5 inches of lift on an XJ is actually pretty stable. So if you are afraid to go higher then 4 inches due to roll over risk you shouldn't be as long as you compliment the lift with the proper tires and rims.

Look into rubicon express 3.5" full leaf pack with 31x10.5
I put it on my 2000 DD/off road XJ a few year ago and I am very happy with it! It actually measures Out to be 4.5" when installed And the only other thing you need to buy is a t-case drop.

On the other side if you have the money and you are looking to 6" just do it!! If you start off smaller you will always want to go UP! Trust me.

If you want a long term lift then go with Rubicon express. Rough country tends to last for a short term. Get it done right the first time. And since you plan to go offroad, go with a quality kit.

Alright. Ill look into those then. I dont really have the money for the 6in. I'am really just looking for some more ground clearance. My first time out I went through a hole hit a huge rock bent my lower transmission support beam and bent everything up to pressing against the frame.

Clayton, bds, ome and iro are some of the best lift kits. Not rc or rustys. Rubicon express is in the middle in my opinion.

super ride and super flex are the same kit except the only reason the super ride is cheaper is because the rear suspension consists of an add a leaf instead of a full leaf peak which is a little more pricey. add a leafs tend to sag after some time because all the stress that is put on it. go with a super flex itll save you money in the long run and your ride quality will be way smoother with a full leaf pack in the back

The super flex kit also has jonny joints on the lcas and quick discos if I am not mistaken

My 2000 does pretty excellent on trails with a meager 3" RC lift, and it does great as my daily driver.

How hardcore are the trails you plan on running? Unless you're crawling i don't see why you wouldn't be happy with a 3" lift.

if this is in your budget it would be such a killer lift. it will out perform any of the other junk out there for the price and can be easily raised to 4.5" and net some serious articulation
