Default Roof rack tire mounting?

I have a surco rack with a spare strapped down with a ratchet strap. I don't like how the ratchet strap looks so is there any other way you guys mount them? Without the surco mount($$)? Thanks

I dont know what your rack looks like but on my XJ I used a rachet strap connected to one of the eyelets on each side and it was trouble free

do you not like how it looks for looks reasons or for safety reasons?

Looks reasons. When I look at my jeep all I see are these yellow straps on the roof.. I guess I could get black ones, but I'd rather just not have straps. I think it would look cleaner.

Ehh if I run in to them.. But I was thinking more along the lines of some ubolts or something? Looked for some at lowes the other day but none were big enough.

Just think, when your out somewhere do you want to mess with a ubolt? Or do you want a strap that is fast or that you can cut? I have had to change one at 1am and a podunk road and am glad I didn't need a wrench

Flip your wheel over then the ubolts won't need to be near as long.

I dont think they way you have it routed is good at all. I would simply strap it right across the top and tie off the excess somewhere. they way yoiu have it now is asking for a rip due to rubbing on something and the way that hook is secured....wow

just get a tire cover, Problem completely solved, plus it keeps the tires out of the elements, or else it can dry rot.

Yeah I was thinking about that too but my problem was that I couldn't find u bolts wide enough.

just seems like a really strange way to secure something, that hook is just begging to pop off
