so i was wondering how much better it is to rhino line the floor. ive seen lots of cherokees with rusted out floorpans and i want to try and keep that from happening on the top at least. so im thinking of pulling the carpet and lining it. any thoughts? is it worth it? pros and cons?

I was only wondering based on your winters with salt and stuff... If it was me, Id spray underneith the XJ first. Think about resale value, road noise, fumes and more heat coming up w/o a carpet.

If you're putting the padding and carpet back down over it there's no cons. If you're not it's louder and hotter, but not as bad as people make it out to be. Only place you'll notice the extra heat is on the trans tunnel and even then it's not too hot that I can't leave my leg on it when it's 100+ here in the summer.
I really want to spray the bottom, just to keep the rust out, I'll do that someday, as far as inside I hate the moldy carpet smell, I want it gone

Spraying the bottom is overkill. Just wash it real good with a heavy duty degreaser and coat it in a chasis saver like POR-15 or a rubberized undercoating.

I used duplicolor and am happy with how it turned out there are some pictures on my build thread I think but I know when I had to take some off to mount the spare tire rack I had to grind it a wire wheel wouldn't take it completely off

You wouldn't need more than a gallon for the interior and the Monstaliner is well worth the price. Much better product than the other bedliners on the market.Originally Posted by mitchlikesbikes

so you think i could do the whole tub including the hatch area on one gallon? if i can i'll just go that route, because the monstaliner does seem to be a lot better.

Did a previous XJ in herc and it only took a gallon. They sell quarts as well so if you needed more you could just order another quart.Originally Posted by mitchlikesbikes

I am thinking of replacing my sh/t carpet and while it's out, I will angle grind any rust, and dump a gallon of bedliner before replacing with new carpet.
