Yes.

Isn't what we have here a renegade grille on a Cherokee, or maybe front clip. I never would have called this a header as much as I would have called the rear bumper a footer.

The front body piece that holds the grill and headlights is called a "header panel." OP should have included the word "panel" in his thread title.

The "header panel" also holds the radiator, battery, and other stuff, right ???

So really this would just be a grill change, if there is even any chance of a Renegade grill fitting an XJ. I assume the original photo is a "shop" ....

If I had a beater XJ that needed front end work, I bet that I could get real creative with a non-OEM grill

No. It bolts on in front of all that. Here's a pic I'm stealing from someone here:

I have an extra one of these I'm planning to hang on my wall as a decoration.

Won't work. The grill and headlight bezels in the XJ are a lot flatter. If you tried to put the Renegade grill in there, either the middle would stick way out, or the headlights would be weirdly recessed way back in the corners (if they would even fit in there, since the headlight buckets on the XJ are so shallow).

Okay, so what's the structural panel behind the "header" called?

In the old days, what you pictured above I would have called a "grill" plus maybe a "grill insert". Learn something new every day, I guess

BTW, not trying to be a turd (I guess it comes naturally!). I recently did some "redneck restoration" on my Chevy pickup, and the headlights mount into the structural panel. There's this big plastic grill piece that had to come mostly off in order to get in there. It's the fascia that surrounds the headlights, that you would probably call a "header" but the headlights just sit behind it.

Yes, yes, yes... header PANEL. Sorry. I doubt a renegade's exhaust header would swap right onto an XJ engine.

And yes, it's a 'shop' job. I made it!

Depends on which "renegade" - the name was used by jeep clear back in the 1980s
