Default Removing A/C pump-need a pulley and mount-94 Country

I want to remove my A/C Compressor. I do not use A/C, and don't plan on it. Anyway, I want to remove my A/C pump to improve performance. Does anyone know of a place that sells a kit for a new pulley and mount for the old pumps place? Still have to route the belt, and don't want/know how to fab my own pulley.

If your ac works you might as well keep it on. You might free up all of 3 hp.

Country where are you from? I have a 92 with 4.5" lift that got rolled by a tornado that went through northwest ohio last June. I would sell the mount and compressor for $35. I do not know if compressor works or not tho

No problem man. I just want to get rid of the pump, but I need a pulley there still to route the belt. Nobody knows if someplace sells a kit for that?

You can get a bypass pulley from autozone. It comes with the bolts, pulley, and bracket for like $40. It's part number 34171. I'm about to do the same with mine. The kit isn't listed under the xj's. I found the kit under Wrangler after looking at my friend's 94 Wrangler and saw his had the bypass from the factory. Same motor and all.

Don't waste your money! The reason people remove the A/C compressor from vehicles isn't to free horsepower it is to loose weight.

When the A/C clutch is disengaged it freewheels like an idler pulley.... now if you where to relocate the alternator or something... I would say that is a worthwhile reason to remove it.

Don't think so...

You would have to have a pulley in place of the AC compressor.

I can tell the clutch is burnt on the AC Compressor. The lessened strain on the engine and the less weight both are fine with me, and are what I'm looking for. And you're sure the bypass kit for the wrangler fit the Cherokee?

As long as the clutch isn't engaged it doesn't pull any engine power.

I appreciate the comments and advice Razor, I really do. I just want the thing gone for a number of reasons. Weight, power (however marginal), free up the engine bay..
