I actually debated pulling the 95's side and rear glass, replacing them with netting, then making half-doors or even tube doors. South Texas, i feel your pain.
Then i said **** all that, and fixed my AC.
I do not regret my decision.
That said, removing the glass is pretty easy, and it goes back in pretty easy too. Id suggest trying that first before ****ing with the hatch.

I busted my back window out few years back. When I was replacing it I noticed it was more difficult than expected. I blame the old rubber.
I also thought about replacing the hatch & rear cargo windows with plexiglass. But I figured the plexi could blow out.
