recap tires
Before I buy a 3" lift I want to find some tires for cheap that will work when playing around off road and driving down to get myself an ice cream now and then. Has anyone run these? If so how did you like them?

Most of my wheelin buddies run them, I have the BFG a/t style tires on my f-150. They are AWESOME, and for me, they are local. I personally know the guys, and have nothing bad to say about them or their tires.

Why not? I have them on my '90 yota and drive it almost daily and wheel quite a bit. They're great tires, especially for the price. You can't beat them! Highly recommended. I also have the bfg style treadwrights for road tires for my xj.
they are great tires for the money. most people think retreads are a bad thing because of the truck tires but tires don't just fail for no reason 99 times out of 100 is because of poor maintenance or high mileage

Hey man im ordering a set of the same exact tires and have talked to alot of poeple about these tires and havent heard a single bad thing about them! i cant wait to order myn.. i was gonna ask you what carcass are you gonna go with? a buddy i work with said he ordered his 3 weeks go and requested BFG M/T or Wranglers for the carcass and they said cant ship em till they have all for a match so it takes longer to ship for a rarer carcass.. I was gonna go with those same ones but not if they arent gonna ship for over a month. haha So now what should i get? i need some suggestions boys! And hope that helps REDNECKROOT!

We run recaps on our trailers and truck drive axles, but never on steer axles. When a cap fails it is usually not just a flat, it comes apart. If that happens on your steer axle at high speed it could cause an accident. Of course all of my experience is with truck tires not passenger car tires.

I've been looking at those I was wondering about the sidewall's. Do any of you that are running them have any problems with wallowing or roll like you get when tires are at the end of their life? That's my big concern as the carcass has allready been run 30 40,000 miles.
For me I plan on asking them what carcasses they have available currently and choose the best one from there. I ran a set of their tires before on my 05 dodge diesel with no problems other then they don't last if you spin them at all on the road. But that was also more of a road style tire. I just wanted to know how the lugs drove, or if it wanders at all. Thanks for the replies so far. If anyone knows any other cheap mud tires let me know or throw up a link.

They told me there was a 2-4 week wait, they shipped in 2 or 3 days.
i had bfg a/ts before my tires now i trove them till there was no tread with no complaint but when i was gettin new onse those were a little out of my price range. so instead i got firestone a/ts and i love them they were about 35 bucks less per tire and they work just fine. so if youre lookin for price and quality i would go with the firestone a/ts hope this helps

.........? The thread is about retreads, not "What tire do you guys run". Treadwrights are still a lot cheaper than firestones anyway.
