well turns out the battery I was using probably shot

I took my motor out to the Jeep and it is running just fine. had a lot of torque and no unusual noises so I think ima leave it intact. the planetary gears look pretty awful though I'm on take it apart re grease it

For the planetary gears I'd just use a parts washer or lightly bead blast them.

Be sure to use a Moly grease when you put it back together.

I wonder if this will work this is what we use on our gears on flexo presses at work this stuff is high dollar moly what does that mean exactly

It just needs to be a high temp, high pressure grease.

i blasted mine with brake cleaner and reloaded it with some synthetic wheel bearing grease i had.

Vinager soak..

this set of planetary gears was rested pretty bad. I broke two of the three gears loose free spinning. I'm going to let it soak overnight in vinegar. hopefully it will be broke free
