All XJs have a D30 front stock.

Hard to see the bottom of the rear diff, but looks like an 8.25

Also depending on the 8.25 sone have different splines for the shafts

this is a C 8.25 see how the bottom is flat a dana 35 will be more round

Yes i do have an 8.25 it looks just like the pictured one thanks for the help.... by the way mine is a 94 4.0 Auto, what did they have for splines and gearing that year? From what i have read i am guessing it has 3.55 gears.

I don't think you have the 29 spline 8.25

So if iu am looking for a 29 spline how the heck would i know i found one? Open up the diff and start counting?

97 and up 8.25s are 29 spline, but 99-1/2 and up XJs have a low pinion D30 up front which is bad if you lift.

So if it is not the 29 spline what is it? 27? If so is it still stronger than the Dana 35? I think i am going to weld it up next weekend i was debating on whether or not to get a Lock-Right and i still cannot decide because of the fact they do the same thing.... As long as i get good penetration on the welds all i really have to worry about is breaking a shaft.
