Did a little thinking (that was no small task) and had one idea that came to mind. I'm sure most all have seen the telescoping ladders (aluminum) that collapse to a short length. If you had a short one like 6-8', with maybe 3' collapsed length it would be very easy to fold up with short legs to the rear hatch w/rubber bumpers and hinged at the rack. Then extend the ladder to the right length depending on terrain.

Are we all confused now just thought about light weight on the ladder side.
