stupid i know, but my question is i now have the money to get a good spring pack in the back now, can i use the extended shackles and end up around 4.5 inches with 3 inch spring pack?

Yup... That would work. Or buy 4.5 spring packs and if you ever want to go bigger add a longer shackle. I'm sorta new too, but I'm pretty sure that's how it works.
No. I bought the 3 inch RC lift first and had the extended shackels in just to level it out. The problem is the RC leaf packs are a little softer to achieve a nicer ride so they 'give' more. I had to do the same with my 4.5 inch leaf packs.
It really depends on the leaf pack set up. The stiffer the rear leaf, the more lift you will get with extended shackels. You just don't get that much with the RC packs. You will however get more flex and help your pinion angle out slightly though.
