I run the smitty 8000 and have a ****** block. A block doubles your pulling power so for the price of a 10000 or less you get 16000 if you buy a 8000. And being 2 items you can buy one now and one later. Thats what I did and wound up needing it. Good old WI peat moss!!!

Yeah, I hate not having $$ right now. I got Quadratec's XJ magazine in the mail yesterday and started tallying up the total costs....I wonder if I could use a car loan for mods? I think my wife would kill me if I did that

Around here ****** block is what we call basically a pulley. If pulling your self out you put the (pulley) on a tree or friends Jeep and run the cable back to your Jeep. ARB sells some really nice ones but they are pricey other company's make the cheaper. Just make sure it can handle twice what your winch is rated for otherwise it might brake and take off a leg or an arm. lol Always make sure your equipment can handle each other.

Sorta like when you block and tackle a tree, wrap pullies around to lower the branches it divides the weight in half or more when dropping it. Makes it so much easier!

If you have the fab skills it can be done, but do not believe I have seen a "kit" to do that.

Did you know that a winch behind the stock bumper was available on the XJ from Jeep? At least from 1991-1993.
