Default Power Gain Removing AC???

I have a 94 with the 2.5. Bearings went in idle pulley and my 2 week old belt got trashed. The non ac belt is $12 cheaper and since my AC dosen't work I was just thinking about scraping the compressor. Would I gain any power or MPGs by doing this or would I just be saving $12.

Gains wouldn't be very significant. You don't always spin the compressor because its not always on and the compressor has a clutch.

That's what I figured. I know in larger displacement applications removing power steering and ac can free up some power. There's probably not too much to gain with the lil 4 banger. I was a lil disappointed after the top end rebuild that Im only getting 20ish mpg...just like everyone I know that has 4.0s.

You wont save $12 it will cost about $25. AC takes at MOST 1% HP to run. Could be more if broken. If it doesn't work, you can remove the Compressor, BUT you must replace it with a pulley, in order to maintain the correct rotation on the other components.
