Ain't my jeep, but is my jack.
My friend had the bright idea to 'drive really slow into deep water to stall my engine and see what gets wet'
he's not the sharpest tool in the shed

is that chain just slung over the toe of the lift?? like, not actually attached to the jack via shackle or something?
also, isnt it better that he drove in slowly as opposed to banshed it in there?

The best thing to do is go in with some momentum and maintain it, going to fast or slow is a bad thing

i think the issue is more of crossing unknown waters. if thats the case im gonna go slow enough to give myself a chance to back out.. theres no way he thought he was gonna cross that water so clearly no method was gonna help here. e fan conversion with kill switch and a snorkel would have helped greatly, but what are you gonna do..besides! not the point. i still wanna know if all that was stopping that chain from slipping off was the lip of the hi lift..
