i was lookin at auto dealer mags today while my jeep was getting aligned and i didnt see a cherokee for under 4500 and keep in mind im from western ma. meaning intense winters with lots of salt. ppl think 4x4 means jack up the price.

same here man. my 87 was 2k bucks. i am used to paying 200 to 500 bucks for a bmw, not 2k for an older jeep

Pretty much all the links are for 2000-2001. Not the best year for Cherokees. You could always try older body style ones. They may be cheaper around you.

Do you know if I can find what axles with the VIN?

You could probably get 2 1/2 here. Most people I see that own cherokees are fat women that always have the cig out the window.

hmm dont know that..

i think if it has ABS then it has a d35 rear, and if im not mistaken they all have hpd30's.

someone correct me if im wrong

If it has abs then it does not have a 8.25.

limited slip is nice. they come in d35's more often than not, but i may be wrong

I have said it before and will say it again. Cash for Clunkers jacked the used car market. Destroyed hundreds of thousands of good vehicles for less well off owners to not be able to afford a used car. New car prices dropped but a poor person cant afford a new car. it encourages loans and debt. These things are what destroyed the econonomy and the gov is enforcing it.
