So I found a 98 Grand Cherokee for sale, parts only and was wondering is anyone knows if I can interchange the parts w/a 93 Grand Cherokee 4.0? Mostly just want the engine (4.0 also), transmission, and wheels.

 

The wheels will for sure but the engine and trans not sure on since yours is odb1 and the newer one is odb2.

 

Yeah I figured there were gonna be some slight differences. just lookin for spares to rebuild & have as backup. He only wants $500 for it. I was gonna offer $400. May be worth it for the wheels & whatever else I can pull off it. The scrap yard will give me $300 for whats left. Thx

 

Engine may not be transferrable due to that they used a different type of PCM (computer module) starting in 1996 to include OBD I diagnostics.

The transmission should be transferrable... the '93 ZJ 4.0's used the AW-4 automatic, while the '93+ ZJ 4.0's used the 42RE automatic.

Wheels are transferrable, pretty much any wheel from any Jeep with a 5-lug, 4.5" bolt pattern (5x4.5") will fit onto any '93-'98 ZJ.
