Default Paper cone filter?

I am looking to build a cowl air intake setup with the filter located in the cowl on the passenger side. Similar to the THOR setup. I don't like oiled filters though. I would like to locate a paper filter that clamps onto the end of a 3" pipe. Anyone know a source? Thanks all.

AEM Dryflow filters are great. All kinds of universal sizes - probably best to measure your available length and match it to the tube diameter. Might be a good idea to get one of those mesh pre-filters. Need to get one for mine but they are kind of "spendy" at ~$20

Those are kind of spendy. Are they a lifetime, cleanable filter?

I use a R2C dry filter on my Bug (#10538). Its a paper filter so you cant clean it. You are just supposed to be able to "tap" the dirt out. Its supposed to flow better then most filters while being able to keep a smaller micron chunk of dirt out. I am going to say it was around $55?

Yes, their cleaning process is to use KNN filter cleaner and air dry. Simple Green diluted works just as well though, and doesn't seem to degrade the filter material.

Material should last a long time as long as you dont chafe or break it (I managed to put a "dent" in my KNN with a screwdriver somehow and it ended up puncturing the filter material. Used JB Weld to seal up the hole)

EDIT:
I think Donaldson makes some standard single-use paper filters that have ~3"+ flanges on them, Wix does as well;

No. Not for me anyway. Used one in the Mustang for a year or two, and the only good using it was you can clean it and reuse it. However, for me, it got far dirtier than the stock paper filter in 6 months time, so i stopped using it and went back to paper. No regrets. After 6 months it (the paper) still looked new.

My take on K&N. Dont bother.

Your first post is to revive a 3 year old thread looking for a paper filter to ask if K&N filters increase horsepower? Troll, is that you?
