I took mine off 2 at a time and used a 3M Paint & Rust Stripping Disc on them. Cleaned them up REALLY GOOD and used RustOleum primer and black satin finish. A few coats of each all the way around. I taped them off for painting with painters tape and paper. Lots of ways to go about doing it. Now I need to go my center hubs. I HATE chrome/silver!

As far as the painting, not long, maybe 5 minutes per wheel. Now thats not counting the removal, stripping and prep. All in all, I think I spent 5 hours start to finish. Thats jacking it up, take 2 tires off, stripping, cleaning, taping off, prepping, priming, painting, dry time, replace and repeat on the other side. While the first two were drying I was doing other stuff around the house, etc. I wasnt trying to do it as fast as possible, I didnt it on the weekend while other stuff was going on.

Before and after, finally got my stock wheels painted. Took the wheels to a local shop to get them painted professionally then painted the plastic hubs myself

I have Rustolium "Hammered" paint on my wheels. Been over a year now, & still looks good. My wheels are aluminum, but the paint should work well on steel too.
It comes in black & gunmetal too.
