Over heating
Today I was up here on a trail in Bountiful. I have a 98 XJ. 182k miles. Today while i was up on the trail i noticed that my cars gauge kept going higher. The water pump, radiator, and serpentine were both replaced earlier this year. Today my xj's temp got up to 260, i stopped the car and noticed my coolant tank was full of coolant and was bubbling/ boiling. Is this an issue that was caused by the radiator cap or what? I finally got off the trail by turning the heat on and got it down to 210.

Wow that's hot!! Usually the turn the heat on trick indicates thermostat issue. I could be wrong though. The heater core could just offer another place to transfer some heat. But look into that thermostat.

No problems man, our jeeps just get hot. But yeah check that thermostat and the freezer plugs on the block. Lots of write ups on how to try and keep her cool. Vents in the hood, three electric fan radiator, sacrifice..
