That the inside of an XJ gets crazy hot without any A/C. My XJ is a 90 2 door,Has A/C (Inop) and I swear the inside of this thing gets like an oven when Im driving. It doesnt have any vent windows in the front or the rear,so the only ventilation I get is from both door windows being down. Even then its like an oven when driving
Short of getting the A/C fixed, are there any tips or tricks to improve ventilation in a 2 door XJ?
Think I might know why the previous owner got rid of this thing. At least with a 4 door, you can at least roll the windows in the back down.

I live in the mountains and it's usually cold enough outside that the XJ-in-the-sun effect usually feels good to me. HOWEVER, when I go to places like Moab it is scary hot inside and I have the 4d, so I can imagine how you feel! I've often pondered something like this for the roof, in the spirit of the home-made hood vent installation maybe? you could even get one with a solar-powered fan for when you leave it parked in the sun!

window tint goes a long ways, removing the doors, and as far as the trans tunned heat make sure the rubber boats are not torn. mine are and mine is a manual trans and the heat from the motor/trans/road all come through the vent tunnel and DAMN it is hot.. I need to get that fixed

I've never had the a/c really working in my 2 door since I got it, and yeah, it can get really hot. Even if it's not that hot out it just seems to absorb any heat and retain it. The only time it's relatively nice is in the morning or at night. I know what's wrong with the a/c but I never felt the need to fix it, for my daily drive to work it's not that bad and on longer trips the window's cool it down soon enough. But I got side vents, I don't know how well it'd work without them

I think some uv resistant window tint may help. Also how about adding some insulation between the roof and headliner, I've seen some panels that fit jk hardtops that clam to help, similar idea. Maybe some of that heat blocking mat between the carpet and body.
