So I've been slowly acquiring parts do my 1ton XJ buggy build, and just recently found the XJ I'll be using as the blank canvas for this masterpiece. I didn't even notice when looking it over, but it has a weird switch bezel I have never seen in my life, not on forums, not in pictures, no where:


It's a single switch bezel and only has a provision for the rear wiper.

A little about the XJ:

98 Classic
220k miles
Two-tone interior (gray with agate accents)
2wd

I've never seen a jeep like it. And I've never seen a single switch bezel before. The rear window doesn't have defrost so it makes sense, but I've seen the 4 switch bezels before and those are rare as can be. Is this just as rare? Anyone know anything about it haha?

 

Interesting. Never seen it and it's really weird and surprising because you live in upstate New York, you would think rear defrost would be mandatory. Ha

 

Are you sure it's actually a single switch panel and not just a standard three switch panel with blanks popped in where the other two switches would go? Have you taken it off to get a better look?

I have seen a panel like that with two switches and a blank in a junk yard. It was a stripped down Jeep that looked like it came from a fleet. I didn't bother taking the panel off to see if the blank was molded in. I just assumed it snapped in.

 

Pretty much every jeep has the 2 switch bezel or the 3 switch with the OEM fog, either of those are a dime a dozen. This one is molded though, blanks weren't used on these panels like they were for TJ's; you can tell when looking at the face of it.

 

I've never seen one before either haha.

It was a Georgia jeep, so I'm told anyway. But it is very interesting haha. It just doesn't look, well, right haha.

Second time in a month I've found some weird oddball Chrysler decided to throw in a jeep.

A weird OEM dome light in a 97+ XJ with a equally weird color I've never seen before on the speaker grilled and dome lights. I started a thread on it in chat a few weeks ago.
