Anyone know anything about the ZJ Omix-Ada tie rod for XJ upgrade.

 

sorry if this is a thread-jack, but...is this different than a stock ZJ rod? If not, the 6cyl ZJ's have hollow metal tube stock tie rods, and the V8s have a solid steel bar as stock.

I'm not an XJ owner so I don't know if it's a direct swap, but I know those of us in my club who have upgraded to stock V8 ZJ tierods on their ZJs and TJs have never bent one. Yank one from a junkyard and be done with it, LOL. It's a slightly different shape than the 6 cylinder, which can still be sleeved with heavier tubing for added strangth.

 

Just an FYI you can get all the parts you need for the linkage upgrade from Autozone for about the same price.

Here are the parts you would need...

ES2079S tie rod end adjustment sleeve kit
ES3096 tie rod end right outer
DS1312 tie rod end right inner

All 3 are about 80 bucks and ship free from autozone.com which is the route I went for mine.




Also the stock drag link is fine on the XJ. The weak link is the linkage that goes from the link to the driver's side wheel.

 

OK then Autozone it is. Finally hit my tierod on a rock pretty hard didnt dent it but left a huge scrape I might have compromised the integrity of the hull. Sweet it will be $70.97 free shipping just need the Rustys lower control arms and ADJ Track bar. Then another alignment from STS.
