I ran Seafoam through my engine (only went through the gas tank and the brake booster vacuum) right after I bought it only to clear out some of the carbon. It's the only time I've ever used it and I fouled out the #6 plug doing so. With that said, I think it's a waste of time and money.

I run Valvoline High-mileage 10W-30 with a Purolator Gold Filter and the Jeep seems to love it.

I use cheap Wal-Mart oil and Fram filters. 95 4-Runner 178,000 miles, 88 K1500 104,000, and the champ, 92 Isuzu PU 210,000 miles. I only leave the stuff on/in for 3000 miles.

Just a quick question ill throw in here instead of a new thread.
Valvoline or Mobil1? I run valvoline max-life in all my stuff because synth blends are good for high mileage and daily drivers, and valvoline has been in the game since the beginning. Should I consider moving to full synth? If so valv or mob? I've got a 92 with about 243k and live in iowa

if that's the case, then seafoam did it's job. changing plugs is protocol after sea foaming, and possibly the o2 also. anytime u loosen up that much carbon and nastiness in te chamber expect to be replacing plugs and o2s.

MMO question:: If running 1 Qt MMO what is the recommended OCI?? |
Only thing I have to say is, Fram is the worst POS you could ever buy for any vehicle. Period. Never. Not once. Just don't even go there. That is all.

The guy with the 612,000 mile XJ uses Tufoil as an additive, I rarely see anything on Amazon with a full 5 stars, customer reviews are extremely positive.
One reviewer claims a small sip cured his cancer AND male pattern baldness..........OK, it didn't really do that, but the stuff has good reviews anyway. |
PTFE in the engine? :icon_eek:

i run Rotella 15/40 all year round in all my junk...even in my Flathead Ford. (Zinc content is high and great for older engine designs).. I am in So cal so my ambient temps are in the mild zone...I use Seafoam in the tank on all my vehicles and when I change Fuel filters in my Dually..it does a great job cleaning the injectors.Marvel Mystery is good stuff for neglected crankcases purchased from stupid previous owners...sludge be gone :)

That's a good question since this a Cherokee forum. Its in the works. Decided to sell the 4 Runner, the Isuzu is actually belongs to my son now. I have been using this forum to learn from experienced Cherokee owners before I go out and purchase something. Its been a great help. Enlightening and confusing all at the same time.
I have not been using the Fram filters by choice. I have limited product availability in Hawaii. We have one WMart and one KMart on island. The other choice is NAPA. I have learned here that they are respected filters, the Gold anyway. As a result I started buying the Silver as they are cheaper even that the Frams and better quality? I have always thought the hype about NAPA Gold filters was just that , but maybe not. Who knows. |
