Default OBD2 with iPhone/Apple devices

I switched over to an iPhone recently and was looking for a Bluetooth dongle to read codes with my obd2 connection. But not really having much luck.. What have you guys been using? I'm only finding android ones that are cheaper. I'm not looking to spend anything close to $100 and that's all I'm really finding for Apple devices. Thanks

I use Android with the Torque app and https://smile.amazon.com/BAFX-Produc...etooth+adapter

If I was doing iOS, I'd try https://smile.amazon.com/Foseal-Scan...etooth+adapter

It looks similar and for $20, it's hard to regret trying it.

There are literally a ton of cheap ones, though...

How do the wifi ones work? Can you still drive around and get live data with them?

Looks like the only iOS compatible ones are wifi only. All the others are android only.

Use this: https://www.amazon.com/LELink-Blueto...e+Bluetooth+LE

And this app: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/obd-...650684932?mt=8

It is Bluetooth and works like a charm. I used this setup in my Cherokee, and still do in my new JK.

I prefer Bluetooth. Much less power drain. By the way, the Wi-Fi one doesn't require an internet connection. It is a hotspot in itself that you connect to from your iPhone's Wi-Fi settings and it feeds your iPhone data over its own Ad-Hoc internet connection.

Still... Bluetooth better. Get it

I'll specify that my Bluetooth adapter and phone app are used in my Metro or when I'm doing diagnostic work on other cars. My XJ has one of these permanently mounted in it (the original, not the phone version).

If you want something on IOS that works like Torque, Dashcommand is the leader in the market. A mechanic I know uses it and swears by it. The reason you're having trouble finding a bluetooth dongle is that Dashcommand uses a wifi dongle instead, so there's a better variety of wifi OBDII adapters out there for use with the iPhone.
